Overview[ | ]
There are four types of capital: Parish, County, Province and Country. The primary role of the parish capital is to improve all the Villages which exist within in the parish. The parish Castle also allows the Steward to defend the capital, or attack other parishes, AI, and enemy villages. County, province and country capitals have the same functions as parish capitals, except that they do not have productivity-enhancing buildings for parish villages (e.g. Orchard Workers' Guilds etc.) They do however, provide the player who holds the leadership position, with an extra army of a much larger size than normal.
In the grey drop-down menu at the top of the screen, players will see an asterisk (*) next to the name of any capitals they are steward of. All village owners within a parish can see its castle, town and army screens.
Within the the parish capital, the steward is responsible for placing a variety of buildings, most of which increase production for all villages within the parish. All villages within the parish should contribute to upgrading capital buildings in order to maximise their benefits and profit from them. Most town buildings require at least one flag to be able to place them, so it is vitally important to retain your Parish Flags. The steward is also responsible for building and maintaining the parish capital castle and its troops.

Flags[ | ]
Flags are required to place buildings in a capital town. Each capital generates one (1) flag per 18 to 36 hours (24 to 48 Hours on Global Conflict Worlds). Flags may be stolen from other capitals by attacking them. If a parish member attacks another capital, the flag will go to the parish that their village is located in. Counties, provinces and country capitals may only steal flags using the capital armies.
TIP: Be aware that that should you steal flags, there are likely to be repercussions, and at the very least, other leaders may demand reparation.
TIP: While using flags to build within your own parish is beneficial, stealing flags from other capitals may hinder their growth.
Voting[ | ]
In order to be able to vote, players must be at least Rank 4 (Peasant). All village owners receive three (3) votes per day, per village. Only Rank 8 (Freeman) or higher may be elected as parish steward. In order to vote in county, provincial, and national elections, one must have the rank required to hold the office in order to be eligible to vote.
TIP: There are exceptions to the above in the new age rule set introduced in The Fifth Age.
Capital Type | Leader Title | Who May Vote For Leaders |
---|---|---|
Parish | Steward | Parish members Rank 4 or over |
County | Sheriff | Parish leaders of that county (stewards) Rank 16 or over |
Province | Governor | County leaders of that province (sheriffs) Rank 18 or over |
Country | King or Queen | Province leaders of that country (governors) Rank 20 or over |
- To become the steward of a parish, you must own a village within the parish and win the most votes in the election, plus be of Rank 8 (Freeman) or higher.
- To become the sheriff of a county, you must be a leader of a parish in that county and win the most votes in the election, plus be of Rank 16 (Knight) or higher.
- To become a governor of a province, you must be a leader of a county in that province and win the most votes in the election, plus be of Rank 18 (Viscount) or higher.
- To become a king or Queen of a country, you must be a leader of a province in that country and win the most votes in the election, plus be of Rank 20 (Marquis) or higher.
TIP: All leaders need to constantly be voted for, as their vote count decreases daily.
TIP: Leaders also collect valuable Glory points for their House.
TIP: New parish Stewards may want to read up on this page: "What Makes A Good Steward?" to make sure they're headed in the right direction for the good of their parish.
Tax and Tithes[ | ]
All capitals can charge taxes from their constituents. This works as such...
Village/Capital Type | Pays tax to... |
---|---|
Villages | Parish Capital |
Parish Capital | County Capital |
County Capital | Province Capital |
Province Capital | Country Capital |
The tax level is set by each Capital leader. All within the respective constituency must pay the tax once per day. Villages are only eligible to pay Parish taxes if their owner is of rank 5 (Serf) or higher.
Proclamations[ | ]
A Proclamation can be made once a week by Stewards, Sheriffs, Governors or Kings. In order to send a proclamation a player needs to become the leader of the Parish, County, Province, or Country Capital. Once voted in to office, leaders will be able to send out a proclamation. Proclamations are intended as a way for a leader communicate to his subjects and meant to be used in a chivalrous manner.
- A Parish Proclamation is received by all players in the parish.
- A County Proclamation is received by all players in the county.
- A Province Proclamation is received by all Sheriffs and Stewards in the province.
- A Country Proclamation is received by all Governors and Sheriffs in the country.
To send a Proclamation, the leader needs to go to the Voting screen and then click the "Send Proclamation" button in the top right corner.
This special type of message cannot be replied to and can only be made once a week.
Capital Town[ | ]
The parish capital's town allows the steward to place buildings in order to defend the capital and to increase the efficiency of villages within the parish. These buildings require gold and (usually) flags to place them.
Capital buildings have various uses:
- Military - affects castle defence
- Resource and food production - benefits productivity of all parish villages
- Faith - benefits all parish villages
- Honour-popularity - benefits all parish villages
All players in the parish (owners of villages within the parish) can, and should, contribute to upgrading buildings. Use one of the following methods to access the the capital town in order to donate, or simply view it:
- choose the capital from the grey drop-down menu at the top of the screen
- click on the shield above the capital in the map screen and select the parish tab (the one with a spire) from the toolbar (it's next to your village tab)
- click on the parish tab on the toolbar when in your village screen
Next, click on the town tab on the left of the tool bar (the one with the house), and then select the building you wish to donate to. Click on the donate resources button to the right of the screen and use the sliders to determine how much you wish to contribute. You may donate from all the villages you own within the parish. If you have more than one village in the same parish, select the village you wish to donate from in the box to the left of the donation screen.
The Capital leader can delete any upgradable buildings at any time, though there is a delay between deleting subsequent buildings. Once deleted however, the effects of the building remain. The only downside is that the buildings cannot be upgraded any further through donating resources. To upgrade the building further the building will need to be re-placed, costing only gold and not consuming additional flags. Deleting any buildings will not return the resources used to place the building.

Capital Castle[ | ]
The capital's castle is built in the same way as a player's village castle. All defensive structures are the same, and are placed in the same way. However, in order to access more advanced defensive structures, buildings such as the Architect's Guild and Turret Maker must be placed in the capital town, and upgraded.
Resources for building castle defences must be bought from the capital's market, using gold from taxes, which is stored in the capital treasury. Resources may also be donated by players in the parish, using the Trading (not Stock Exchange) screen, which works in exactly the same way as trading between villages.
Defensive troops may be commissioned by the capital leader once the appropriate army building has been erected in the capital. Players may also donate troops from their own villages.

Parish Walls/Noticeboards[ | ]
Parish walls/noticeboards are where you can find all the latest events happening in your parish. Players can also post short comments to each other. By default, selecting the parish tab from the main interface at the top of the screen will take you to the parish wall.
To return to it, click the i tab from the grey toolbar below the interface.
